# security.applicationUserElementAccess&#x20;

Get the access mode available to the user for a particular element in a dimension.

security.applicationUserElementAccess(applicationId, userId, dimensionName, elementName)
```

## Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `applicationId` | `string` | The application id. |
| `userId` | `string` | The user id. |
| `dimensionName` | `string` | The dimension's name or id. |
| `elementName` | `string` | Name of the element to get access information from. |

## Returns

The user's access to the element, from their access tags:

| Value | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `"W"` | Write access. |
| `"R"` | Read access. |
| `"N"` | No access, or the application wasn't found. |

Returns `"Error: Dimension not found."` or `"Error: Element not found."` when the dimension or element can't be found.

```
