# dimension.create

Creates a dimension of the given type.

```js
dimension.create(dimensionName, type)
```

## Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `dimensionName` | `string` | The new dimension's name. |
| `type` | `string` | Optional. The dimension's type: `"standard"`, `"measure"`, `"time"`, `"scenario"` or `"geography"`. Defaults to `"standard"`. |

## Returns

An empty string when it succeeds, or an error message when the name is taken or the type isn't valid.

## Examples

```js
dimension.create("Account", "standard");
```
